This functional—sometimes also aesthetic—impairment, especially when visible teeth are affected, requires multidisciplinary management by a team experienced in working together. All dental specialties are represented within each of our clinics, enabling high-level treatment in one location.
Our patient, treated in 2006, suffered from agenesis of both lateral incisors (meaning the permanent teeth never developed). When teeth are missing in a dental arch, adjacent teeth often shift from their normal positions, and the supporting tissues (bone and gums) don’t develop optimally.
Our multidisciplinary team began with orthodontic treatment to properly redistribute space. This was followed by implant placement and bone grafting to increase tissue volume, and the case was completed with the placement of clinical crowns. By the end of the treatment, our patient had a harmonious and natural-looking smile.
Ten years after the surgery, we observe perfect integration of the ceramic crowns on the implants into the surrounding tissues, ensuring an excellent long-term prognosis when treatment is carried out by a skilled team.
Treatment was provided at the Ardentis Dental Clinic in Lausanne by our orthodontic specialists and Dr. Mark Bischof, specialist in oral surgery.
